Case studies - Streaming Media Tour

The Job: AKA Media, asked us to provide video production and encoding for their client, McCormick Spices, for a live media tour broadcast on UStream.

The event & challenge: In order to capture different angles of three cooking areas, VideoLink’s online video producers brought in  mobile production equipment.  The project required three cameras, one at the outer two cooking stations and one camera on a jib in the middle of the stage.  This camera provided high angle and swooping shots with the ability to see all surfaces of the cooking areas.  VideoLink brought in a director of lighting to properly illuminate the set to achieve high quality shots. 

In order to transmit the video to the web, VideoLink had to encode it using a broadcast switcher and VideoLink’s flypack encoder.  The flypack encoder is a portable laptop system used to encode broadcast quality video and audio to pass down IP lines as a form of data transmission. VideoLink utilized the clients IP line to stream direct to UStream for the “Flavor Forecast” IMT (Internet Media Tour).
